Houston Texans Brennan Scarlett to team up with Complex in the NFLPAs’ Externship Program

Houston Texans outside linebacker Brennan Scarlett is up to big things this off-season with not only getting ready for the 2018 season but with an externship through the NFLPA.

Scarlett will be one of 41 players who will be working with 20 organizations who have teamed up with the NFLPA Externship Program. Scarlett was selected from 110 applications from interested players around the NFL for the program. Each player selected was matched with businesses and industries that best fit their interest and career goals after football.

Scarlett with be teaming up with New York based media entity, Complex. With the opportunity Scarlett will be able to spend time with Complex and get insight into the company while working on projects and creating networking opportunities.

“Heading into the fifth year of the program, the NFLPA Externship allows our members to gain hands-on experience in hopes that they discover post-football career interests,” said Dana Hammonds Shuler, senior director of the NFLPA’s player affairs department. “The players get a chance to build their network and gain the confidence they need for future endeavors. We’ve recruited some of the best organizations to host our player externs, and they are fully committed to immersing participants in the business world.”

The Externship program serves as one of several post-career programs offered by the NFLPA, all of which are there to help players find their way after football.
