A compiled list of prospects that the Texans have talked to since the start of the draft process. Allen and Amerson Scheduled to Visit Texans

Late last week news came out that the Houston Texans have private workouts scheduled for California Golden Bears Keenan Allen and N.C. State Wolfpack’s David Amerson.   I’m told that #NCST DB David Amerson – rated 29th overall on my board – has private workouts scheduled with the #Panthers & #Texans. — Chris Steuber (@ChrisSteuber) March 2, 2013   I’m told that #Cal WR Keenan Allen – rated 16th overall on my board – has private workouts scheduled with the #Eagles, #Panthers & #Texans. — Chris Steuber (@ChrisSteuber) March 2, 2013   Both Allen and Amerson are considered to be drafted in the top two…

Texans Have Plenty of Wide Receiver Options

“We need another playmaker (at receiver). We want more speed at receiver. Andre (Johnson) had a great year, but we can’t expect him to carry the load for all the receivers.” – Houston Texans Owner, Bob McNair   It is that time of year where Houston Texans fans will start clamoring to find out who might be the next draft pick of the hometown team. We helped out and put together the top wide receivers of this 2013 NFL draft that are considered to be picks in the top two rounds. There are plenty of wide receivers that could fit…

Texans Seven Round Mock Draft, Part Deux

With Mike Kerns’ 7 round mock in the books, I definitely have to take a stab at the all elusive picks that possibly could happen for the Texans in April’s draft. By no mean do I know it all or say I do, but one thing is for certain I wish this draft would get here so we could stop talking about it. With that said…. There is a gut feeling I have that I can’t shake and that is the Texans will be faced with some serious choices on draft day, mainly because their potential targets will be gone before…

Rebuilding the 2012 Texans

Texans Huddle

In light of the upcoming draft I thought I would look into how I would go about rebuilding the Houston Texans through the draft. With the draft being unpredictable I am going to focus only on the eight picks the Texans have. First off let’s look at some of the key players that the Texans lost due to free agency and left holes in some places and lack of depth in others. Here is a short list of the players that left due to free agency. Mario Williams: Defensive End/Outside Linebacker – Buffalo Bills DeMeco Ryans: Linebacker – Philadelphia Eagles…

Texans Start Bringing in Prospects

The Houston Texans closing in on the NFL Draft are bringing in potential draft picks for some workouts. The news on players who are coming to visit Reliant is slowly trickling in and we will update the players who will be visiting leading up to the Draft in April. Majority of the players look like they could be late round draft picks or undrafted free agents invited to camp, and these guys are players who should not be overlooked. The Texans have done a good job on finding talent outside of the draft when it comes to undrafted players.     The…

SOTT: Draft Profile Mitchell Schwartz

The next few weeks here on State of the Texans we will be doing some draft profiles of some particular players who could possibly fit into the Texans plans. We are not going to try to piece together scouting reports, but we enlist help of bloggers who actually cover the respective player and their school. Kodiak of the California Golden Blogs decided to help us with their athletic offensive tackle, Mitchell Schwartz. It was confirmed that the Texans interviewed Schwartz at this year’s Senior Bowl, so there has been some interest shown. It does not necessarily mean that Schwartz is a…
