Houston Texans Captains Named

Today the Houston Texans named their team captains for the 2012 season, and there is not much change on who will be wearing the “C” on their jersey this season. For the offense quarterback Matt Schaub and wide receiver Andre Johnson were elected and for the defense, defensive end Antonio Smith and linebacker Brian Cushing were elected also. For the special teams, second year Texans linebacker and special teams cornerstone Tim Dobbins  was named the fifth captain. All five players were a captain at one point of the 2011 season. Out at training camp today, at the half way point of “game week”, the Houston Texans were working hard despite the rising temperature as practice continued. With Day Eight in the books, the Houston Texans had an upbeat practice which turned into only a morning session. For two hours, the team was running well and both the offense and defense had some good moments out at the Reliant practice fields.   – According to Head Coach Gary Kubiak, three starters are set to return to practice on Monday. Entering Day Seven of Houston Texans training camp, the big story in camp was the recent injury to J.J. Watt and the excused absence of wide receiver Lestar Jean. According to Head Coach Gary Kubiak, star defensive end J.J. Watt dislocated his elbow and will be out for a short amount of time. He will be ready for Week One at the latest. Texans Training Camp: Another Scare

Full pads were on for the 6th day of camp and the Houston Texans did receive a scare to one of their star players.     - Duane Brown, starting left tackle, got kicked on his left ankle when he got rolled up from behind. Brown played two plays after the incident but couldn’t continue. After evaluation they shut him down for the day and he headed in for an MRI. The MRI came back negative and was only deemed a bone bruise. He has been listed as day-to-day. Rashad Butler will fill in at the left tackle position until Brown comes back….
