All-22 Breakdown: Week 3
In this weeks All-22 breakdown we take a look at the Houston Texans’ game against the Denver Broncos from week 3. We focused on Keshawn Martin’s big play ability and the rejuvenation of Kevin Walter in the passing game. Martin showed his big play ability with a reverse that Coach Kubiak called that was very close to being his first career touchdown. As for Walter we look at what he did on a great designed play to make his once again a legitimate deep threat in the Texans offense. Take a look and enjoy. How Close was Keshawn Martin to Taking it to the…
Texans Bring Back Meggett
According to Adam Caplan, the Houston Texans have brought back running back Davin Meggett to be on the practice squad. Meggett was waived after preseason and has been a street free agent since week one. Now that former practice squad running back Jonathan Grimes was picked up by the New York Jets for their active roster, there was an open spot for the Texans to bring in Meggett. Meggett worked hard during training camp and preseason games but lost out to Grimes as the preseason progressed. Meggett is a good one cut runner and in the preseason he had 8 carries for 40 yards. At 5-8 and…
Replacement Refs: Coming To A Texans’ Game Near You
Fail Mary? The Inaccurate Reception? A Game Winning Touchception? Those are some of the descriptions used after the Hail Mary pass that allegedly won the game for the Seattle Seahawks Monday night….and a great idea for a Snickers ‘Wanna Get Away’ commercial. Wisconsin State Senator Jon Erpenbach was so upset with the call that he tweeted out NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s office phone number. Erpenbach said in a separate tweet that if Monday night’s ending did not spark an end to the lockout of the regular officials, “this season will be a joke.” Needless to say, so far this…
Digging Deep: Denver Edition
With a 31-25 victory over the Denver Broncos on Sunday, the Texans moved to 3-0 for the first time in their brief history. After taking a 20-point lead going into the 4th quarter, the Texans allowed 14 points, but managed to hang on to leave Denver with a six-point win. This game was also the first time the Texans have beaten Peyton Manning in his home stadium. Positives: 4 The number of touchdowns Matt Schaub threw in this game. He was 17-30 for 290 yards and 4 touchdowns. While the running game had some success, Schaub was really the guy who…
The POGs: Denver Edition
DENVER, Co. – The Houston Texans rode the Denver Broncos to a 31-25 win Sunday afternoon at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The Broncos came out of the gate with a quick 5-0 lead, all started by a sack-safety courtesy of the dangerous Broncos’ defensive end Elvis Dumervil. The Texans regrouped and then proceeded to dominate the remainder of the game by playing their brand of football, which resulted in a 20 point lead going into the last quarter. However, Peyton Manning and his stable of receivers made a late fourth quarter push that turned out to be too little…
Texans Lose Grimes to the Jets
According to multiple sources, the Houston Texans have lost runningback Jonathan Grimes to the New York Jets, who have added him to their active roster. Grimes was a practice squad player who made some noise during training camp and made a real push to make the active roster coming out of training camp. He surprised with his strong running style and good special teams play during the preseason, and he fit well into the Texans’ zone running scheme. Grimes was already conditionally claimed by the Jets after he was waived after the preseason, but was not added to the Jets because they…

The Rundown: Broncos Edition
One of the more entertaining games of Sunday, the Houston Texans went into Denver and beat the Broncos 31-25, and beat their old nemesis in Peyton Manning. The Texans once again put points on the board and played opportune defense to push their record to 3-0 for the season. Considered a big test for the Texans, they had flashes of greatness where they had the Broncos all but defeated until a Ben Tate fumble gave the home team some life. Either way, the Texans accomplished their goal for the week going 3-0 for the first time in franchise history. The…
Surgery for Jean and Demps
Today Head Coach Gary Kubiak informed the media that safety Quintin Demps and wide receiver Lestar Jean will need surgery for their respective injuries. Demps had surgery Monday morning to repair his thumb, but is expected to be ready for Sunday against the Tennessee Titans with a cast. He was in a cast during the Broncos game starting in the first quarter, so it will be interesting to see if he can continue at high level of play. As for Jean, he has a meniscus issue that will require surgery and is already “out” for the Titans game on Sunday. Expect DeVier Posey to be active…
