Texans Seven Round Mock Draft

Reliant Stadium

With the 2013 NFL Draft almost here, we’ll take a look at the Houston Texans’ current roster and the holes left by the losses the Texans had in free agency. Currently, the Texans lost a safety in Glover Quin, an outside linebacker in Connor Barwin, and tight end James Casey who will need to be replaced. The Texans also have to look at getting a playmaking wide receiver to replace Kevin Walter who the Texans cut to create more cap space. The challenging part that most good teams experience is the balance of keeping their core players together while at…

Here’s the breakdown:   FINAL SCORE: Texans 19 Bengals 13   TEXANS PLAYOFF RECORD: 1-0 TEXANS PLAYOFF SEATING: 3RD TEXANS FIRST OPPONENT: CINNCINATI BENGALS TEXANS NEXT OPPONENT:  NEW ENGLAND…

In what has been dubbed a “colossal matchup” on HoustonTexans.com, a “battle of Super Bowl hopefuls” in the Chicago Tribune, and a potential “Super Bowl preview” on NFL.com, the Texans trip to Chicago to meet the Bears for a Sunday night spectacle is nothing if not hyped. Both teams come into the contest at 7 and 1. Both teams have stellar defenses. The Bears tend to score more on defense, but the Texans have a much higher ranked offense. Special teams? Chicago wins that battle handily – on paper. We know the game will not come down to statistics but…

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Packers Edition

RODGERS

The reeling Green Bay Packers invaded Reliant Stadium after losing a close ball game to the Indianapolis Colts. The Packers, in a must win situation to keep from becoming a 2-4 ball club, came into the game looking to rebound from a loss and make a statement. The Texans did very little to stop that from happening and even facilitated the win. Aaron Rodgers was surgical in how he sliced up the Texans secondary and with a lack of pass rush from the Texans front seven, it was inevitable that the Texans were in for a loss.   FINAL SCORE: Packers…

Scouting the Draft for a Mario Williams Replacement

SheaMcClellin

This is an installment from State of the Texans feature Columnist, Mike Kerns.   Even before the eventual departure of Mario Williams to free agency, it is always said of a Wade Phillips 3-4 defense that one can never have enough linebackers. Be it inside or outside, you can’t have another situation like last season where Connor Barwin and Brooks Reed were playing virtually every snap and giving the trainer with the oxygen masks a workout after every play.   With this logic in mind combined with this little event known as the NFL Draft right around the corner, my…
