The Houston Texans have lost free agent linebacker Connor Barwin to the Philadelphia Eagles. Barwin who was drafted by the Houston Texans in 2009 in the 2nd round (46th overall) out of Cincinnati to play defensive end. After limited snaps his rookie season and an ankle injury that landed him on the injured reserve in 2010, Barwin had a breakout season in 2011.
In 2011, Barwin tallied 11.5 sacks with 47 total tackles in his first season as a starting outside linebacker in Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips 3-4 scheme. With high expectations, Barwin had a down season on the stat sheet in 2012 and turned down a contract offer prior to the season. He only posted 3 sacks and has freely admitted that the pressure of the season wore on him trying to produce for the team.
With Barwin leaving the Texans have four outside linebackers on the roster in Brooks Reed, Whitney Mercilus, Bryan Braman and DeLano Johnson.
