Bradie James Off The Field
Although most of the attention Texans’ players get is about their on-field play, fans should be proud to have former Cowboy’s defensive captain and middle linebacker Bradie James, the person, and his Foundation 56. Named after his old Cowboy’s jersey number, Foundation 56 is a faith based organization that strives to enhance the quality of life of women and their families who have been directly and indirectly affected by breast cancer.
The outreach initiatives are dedicated to helping breast cancer patients and survivors by supporting mammogram screenings, diagnostic testing and social therapy and educational programs. Foundation 56 was established in 2007 in honor of James’ mother, Etta James, who passed from breast cancer in 2001. To date, Foundation 56 has donated more than $500,000 to the cause.
At a recent fund-raising event James stressed the importance of passion, “It’s amazing that when you do something you are passionate about and go about it the right way it becomes contagious. That’s how we get the results and the outcome that we have seen each year.”
Texans’ fans should be very proud and thankful for the passion Bradie James exudes on and off the field.
