The third OTA for the Houston Texans was held before the weekend starts and there was a new life during the practice. It was another tolerable day for the practice with a nice overcast and good breeze. Here are some notes on OTAs from today: Day Three – Inside linebacker Tim Dobbins was absent today for the third straight practice. There is plenty of chatter going on how he should be there at “voluntary” OTAs but one thing is for certain training camp is where it counts. Dobbins, a special teams captain, is catching heat for not being with his teammates. There is no…

Day Two – The Texans had two injuries with Phillip Supernaw and Sunny Harris that were labeled as foot injuries from yesterday. Neither player…

There are some new faces at Reliant and some that were missing, but still a new outlook for the 2013 season is at hand. Here are some early thoughts on the opening of OTAs. The Houston Texans sat on the sidelines after a flurry of moves across the NFL to open up the 2013 free agency period, and fans and critics were questioning motives of the Texans’ front office. Especially after watching their own players walk, specifically the puzzling departure of priority number one during free agency, Glover Quin. Throw in signings of Connor Barwin, James Casey, Justin Forsett and Alan Ball to other teams, the Texans’ roster was taking a huge step back. Then the news came out that free agent Ed Reed was coming to visit the Houston Texans and then the plan started to unfold…

Bizarre. That’s one way to describe the end of the Texans’ 2012 season. It’s hard to explain why it was so difficult to capture that one elusive win that would have had the road to the Super Bowl roll through Reliant. The Texans held the league MVP to under 90 yards, yet allowed a rookie QB to carry the Vikings to a big win. In the finale, the Texans’ special teams allowed a 2nd half kickoff return for 101 yards and a 70 yard TD pass on a crucial 3rd and long that ultimately lead to that loss. Not to…
