Got about a week left on twitter, then I’m shutting her down. — Arian Foster (@ArianFoster) March 4, 2013 Made a decision at 3am. — Arian Foster (@ArianFoster) March 4, 2013 It’s been fun, twitter! Time for me to leave the digital realm. Be the light you want to see on the earth. Peace. — Arian Foster (@ArianFoster) March 4, 2013 It seems that Houston Texans running back Arian Foster is going to shut down his twitter account and remove himself from the “digital realm.” One of the more personable players for the Texans, Foster has made himself…
Franchise deadline is 3 today. Texans won’t b franchising anyone. Haven’t since Dunta Robinson in 2009. — John McClain (@McClain_on_NFL) March 4, 2013 The Houston Chronicle’s John McClain is reporting that the Houston Texans will not be using the Franchise tag for the 2013 season. Reports were surfacing that free agent safety Glover Quin would be getting the tag, but that was all for not. The Texans are currently $7.6 million under the salary cap for the opening of the 2013 free agency period which opens up on March 12th. Here is a list of the Texans current free…
Here are some quick thoughts of this upcoming season, and we mean early thoughts on the Houston Texans. Facts -T.J. Yates will have competition in camp this year pushing him to see if he could be the quarterback of this team. Yates will be on alert during draft time with rumors flying the Texans could be looking for a young quarterback to groom, if the opportunity presents itself. – Andre Johnson will finally get help and the wide receiver group will have a slight face lift going into the 2013 season, with the chance of three new wide receivers on the opening…
”We need another playmaker (at receiver). We want more speed at receiver. Andre (Johnson) had a great year, but we can’t expect him to carry the load for all the receivers.” – Houston Texans Owner, Bob McNair It is that time of year where Houston Texans fans will start clamoring to find out who might be the next draft pick of the hometown team. We helped out and put together the top wide receivers of this 2013 NFL draft that are considered to be picks in the top two rounds. There are plenty of wide receivers that could fit…
On Thursday, General Manager Rick Smith said the Houston Texans have made it a priority to re-sign Connor Barwin for the 2013 season and beyond. He is considered a “core-player” according to Smith and the preliminary discussions with Barwin’s agent, Scott Smith (XAM Sports), will start this weekend in Indianapolis at the 2013 NFL Combine. Word is that Barwin was offered a lucrative deal at the beginning of the 2012 season, but turned it down to chance on building on his 2011 breakout season. Barwin had a solid season, but did not provide the splash plays that would consider him a difference maker. Barwin seems to be the…
#Texans GM Rick Smith & head coach Gary Kubiak at the podium #NFLCombine twitter.com/NickScurfield/… — Nick Scurfield (@NickScurfield) February 21, 2013 Smith called the Combine a “critical piece to the evaluation process.” Important to see best of best in a competitive environment #Texans — Nick Scurfield (@NickScurfield) February 21, 2013 #Texans GM Rick Smith: “We’re going to hopefully draft an impact player in the 1st round. That’s always the goal.” #NFLCombine — Nick Scurfield (@NickScurfield) February 21, 2013 “He’s very capable of being a stack player, playing inside in a 3-4. That could happen.” Kubiak on Brooks Reed #Texans —…
If you think about it, there are now only a handful of Texans’ players that could possibly fit the mold we are talking about, that bad guy, but in a good way. The player that plays with the reckless abandon and doesn’t care what the other team or his teammates think. The guy that might seem a little bit crazy on the football field, the one that gives an identity to a football team. Take a look at the Texans we think are the heels of the team. Current Texans That Fit the Mold Kareem Jackson Kareem brought his A game in…
Former Houston Texans defensive lineman, Jeff Zgonina has rejoined the organization as the team’s assistant defensive line coach. He will be helping current defensive line coach Bill Kollar who has been with the Texans since the 2009 season. Zgonina is a 17 year NFL veteran who played for seven different teams and joined the Texans as a player in 2007 and played 48 games for the team. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1993 in the 7th round of the NFL Draft out of Purdue. While with the St. Louis Rams he won a Super Bowl in 2000…
Walking into a room, you would never know the unassuming 6’4″ Wade Smith is a Pro Bowl-caliber professional football player. But the modest and reserved Smith offers a bright, welcoming smile and shakes hands with those in attendance at an autograph signing at Buffalo Wild Wings to benefit his charity, The Wade Smith Foundation. He often looks downward but always catches your eye when speaking. He is an honest and humble-appearing man. The Houston Texans left guard has been a revelation on the field the past three years, as well as in the charitable sense more recently….
Two Houston Texans made the 2012 USA Today’s All Joe Team and they were fullback James Casey and special teams star Bryan Braman. Both players were key parts of the 2012 team and were put on this recognized post season team released by USA Today. The criteria of the team is as follows: About the team: The All-Joe team was created in 1992 by longtime USA TODAY Sports NFL writer Larry Weisman as a tribute to Joe Phillips, a 14-year defensive lineman who did yeoman’s work for the Kansas City Chiefs that season. His effort in the trenches didn’t lead to…
Houston Texans starting corner back Kareem Jackson tweeted out a flyer promoting his NFL weekend in Macon, Georgia this coming March. The only issue is that the company that is helping him promote his weekend did not help him out. It seems the company that was promoting Jackson’s event forgot to use the spell check. The Promotion After tweeting Jackson and telling him of the mistakes, he said he noticed the issue and appreciated us looking out for him. Even the company that made the flyer for Jackson tweeted us too. @patdstat new flyer homie twitter.com/Rcox4Cox/statu……
Word coming out of Minnesota is that disgruntled wide receiver Percy Harvin is looking for a way out-of-town, and looks like it is heading that direction. One of the more complete and explosive players in the NFL, Harvin can create instant offense on the ground, in the air and returning kicks. Adam Rank of NFL.com said this of Percy Harvin, It is apparent that Harvin will be finding a new zip code for the 2013 season, but the question remains, would the Texans take a chance on the play maker from Minnesota? Also to go along with his play making ability is…

According to Pro Football Talk and the Houston Chronicle’s, John McClain, Houston Texans nose tackle Shaun Cody had back surgery late last week in Los Angeles. Cody had “microscopic lumbar discectomy surgery for a lumbar disc herniation” , which is nothing more than fancy name for a back surgery. Shaun Cody has been with the Texans since 2009 when he signed as a free agent after being drafted by the Detroit Lions. Cody has been starting on the defensive line since he came to Houston and started 57 games for the Texans in four seasons. He has been solid as a nose…
More than usual, it looks like Houston Texans’ Owner Bob McNair has been making the rounds and making his voice heard. Mr. McNair does not talk often but when he does it usually has validity. Since the Texans’ season ended, he has been talking to numerous outlets and being put on record on what he feels the team should be looking for this off-season. There has been little change from his interviews and all say the same topic when it comes to personnel the team is looking for heading into the 2013 season. We looked at two interviews and one audio…
