Would Rolando Be Welcomed to Houston?

Rolondo

It’s not often we talk about other players not associated with the Houston Texans, but the name of Oakland Raiders inside linebacker Rolando McClain has come up. According to multiple sources, the former 8th overall pick (2010 NFL Draft) is set to “no longer” be a Raider.   These tweets came out about McClain and his recent comments.   Former Bama LB Rolando McClain no longer with OAK.He writes: I’m gonna weigh my options. Looking forward to playing for an actual ‘team’. — Kyle Burger (@kyle_burger) November 28, 2012   McClain on Facebook: “Officially no longer an Oakland Raider!!” and “I’d like…

Schaub Has Jersey and Shoes Sent to Hall of Fame

Schaub

Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub was honored when his jersey and cleats were flown to Canton, Ohio to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Schaub was being honored for his 527 yard passing day (43 completions on 55 attempts) with 5 touchdowns against the Jacksonville Jaguars on November 18th. The monumental day landed Schaub with the second best passing day in NFL history tying him with Warren Moon and only behind Norm Van Brocklin who passed for 554 yards in 1951 to top single game passing list.    See it here

Texans Shuffle Practice Squad

Cameron Collins

The Houston Texans announced they released rookie running back Davin Meggett from the practice squad and brought back inside linebacker Cameron Collins (pictured above). Collins will now be on the practice squad for the second time this season, and this looks like a move just in case the linebacker depth takes anymore hits. With an ailing Bradie James (Hamstring), Tim Dobbins (Shoulder) and Darryl Sharpton coming back from injury, the inside of the defense is looking to get healthy. Collins is 6-2 and 241 lbs. and was signed when Cody White was placed on the active roster in early October….

Report: Brooks Reed Out For a Month

BrooksReed

According to NFL Network’s Albert Breer,   Texans D takes a hit — Brooks Reed expected to miss 3-4 weeks with a groin injury. No surgery, but tough loss as home-field race heats up. — Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) November 23, 2012   This is a big blow for a thin outside linebacker position group and it looks like rookie Whitney Mercilus will replace Reed in the starting lineup. Connor Barwin, Bryan Braman, Jesse Nading and Mercilus are the healthy outside linebackers on the current roster. It will be interesting to see if the Texans look elsewhere for help or promote rookie Delano Johnson from the practice squad. Stay tuned…

The Rundown: Texans vs. Lions

Forsett

Possibly one of the oddest games we can remember from the Houston Texans history of games, but how amazing is it to see them sitting at 10-1? After a grueling stretch of three games and a short week to play in their first Thanksgiving game, they pulled out another overtime victory over the Detroit Lions. After what could be called a game of some odd plays and situations, the Texans finally caught some big breaks that resulted in a win. Sometimes luck is involved in winning, but good teams find a way to win and that is exactly what the Texans…

Texans to Watch: Detroit Lions Edition

Wade Smith, #74 Starting Left Guard

The 9-1 Houston Texans look to defeat the 4-6 Detroit Lions in a Thanksgiving Day Week 12 matchup.  The Lions are coming off a disappointing 24-20 home loss to their division rival Green Bay Packers while the AFC leading Texans are looking to extend their four game win streak.  This is the Texans first Thanksgiving Day game and only second ever trip to Detroit, a game they lost in 2004.  The Lions, on the other hand, play this game on an annual basis but haven’t won it in 9 years. Two big impact players with previous injuries that have a…

Luv Ya Steel Blue: The Potluck Exchange

Basic RGB

Mike and Cleaver are joined this week in a potluck edition of the program by Erich, aka “Some Guy in H-Town,” by way of a twitter contest after a last-minute cancellation by Aaron, who was too inebriated to join the program (his drunk dial is included in the show, by the way). Together, the three of them talk about the Texans thriller versus Jacksonville, the upcoming Thanksgiving day game and some alternate entertainment ideas to watching some of the miserable match ups from this past week. Come find us on iTunes and be reminded there might be some adult content. Podcast: Play in new…

The Rundown: Texans vs. Jaguars

AndreJohnson

Talk about one of the wildest games we have seen the Houston Texans involved in, but this shootout was one that Texans’ fans can be proud of. It provided 640 yards of offense for the Texans and a game for the franchise history book for Andre Johnson. The defense had another off day but provided enough stops in overtime to put together a win to push the Texans’ record to 9-1.     The Rundown – The Texans were the first team in NFL history to post two scores in an overtime game. They did it with a Shayne Graham 25…
