Digging Deep: Detroit Edition
In their first Thanksgiving Day game ever, the Texans played and won their second overtime game of the season beating the Detroit Lions 34-31. This win brings the Texans’ record to 10-1, which ties their franchise high in wins. Again, the story of the game was the offense putting up yards while the defense struggled. The Texans did not play their best football for the second game in a row and it is safe to say they are very lucky to have come out of Detroit with the win. Positives: 188 Andre Johnson had another huge game with 188 receiving…

Bring in MusicCityMiracles.com‘s Jimmy Morris who addresses Texans fans concerns on new Titans OC Dowell Loggains, QB Jake Locker, inconsistent star offensive players, and makes a quick comment on Bud Adams and his typical demands. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Lions Edition
This Thanksgiving brought us another high scoring thriller between the Houston Texans and the Detroit Lions. The game which going in many thought would be tough, lived up to its billing. The Texans came into this game shorthanded on the defensive side of the ball with starters Shaun Cody and Johnathan Joseph out. The Texans had just come out of a brawl with the Jacksonville Jaguars (divisional rival) to go into another on a short week. The Texans showed their mettle to overcome injuries, lack of execution on offense, inconsistency on defense, and special team shortcomings to pull out a great…
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Jaguars Edition 2
On Sunday, the Houston Texans hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars in their second and final matchup of the regular season. The Texans won the first matchup 27-7 in Jacksonville the second week of the season. This game appeared to be a warm up game for the Thanksgiving game, but the Jaguars had another type of game in mind. The Texans had no idea that the Jaguars would come into this game and bring all they had. Fortunately for the Texans, the Jaguars “A” game wasn’t enough to beat them. FINAL SCORE: Texans 43 Jaguars 37 TEXANS REGULAR SEASON RECORD:…
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Bears Edition
In what could be considered the worst playing conditions, the Houston Texans invaded Soldier Field to take on the Chicago Bears. The weather was horrible for playing an outdoor game, cold temperatures, swirling wind and rain. With the weather going to be a factor, NFL analyst said that this would work in the Bears’ favor. Well not so fast my friend, the Texans came out and put their stamp on the game early. The Texans came into the game with something to prove even in the worst type of situations for an outdoor game. The rushing attack for Houston was established…
Texans Name Three New Captains
Today the Houston Texans announced three new captains to the team. J.J. Watt, Chris Myers and Shiloh Keo were all named as new captains for the Texans at the halfway point of the season. J.J. Watt has been a terror to opposing offenses and has been a superstar in the making, and now Watt has been rewarded by his teammates for what he has brought to the field for the last eight games. Watt this season has 39 total tackles (31 solo), 10.5 sacks and 10 pass deflections at just the halfway point of this season. Starting center Chris Myers has…
Digging Deep: Buffalo Edition
The Texans came out a little slow after their bye week but they were able to step their game up enough to beat the Buffalo Bills 21-9. This moves the Texans to 7-1 and allows them to maintain their lead in the AFC and AFC South standings. Positives: 0 The number of touchdowns the Texans allowed on Sunday. The Bills got into the red zone three times but only got three field goals to show for it. On the other hand, the Texans scored touchdowns on two of their three red zone trips. +1 The Texans’ turnover differential. They didn’t…
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly: Bills Edition
The Houston Texans hosted Mario Williams and the Buffalo Bills at Reliant Stadium in what was called “Judgment Day” by Williams himself. Williams’ game was nothing to ride home about. He lit up the stat sheet with five tackles, two assists, and one sack. He had his best game of the season for his new team against the Texans. Williams wasn’t impactful and Houston moved the ball on the ground and in the air and there was nothing Williams could do about it. FINAL SCORE: Texans 21 Bills 9 TEXANS REGULAR SEASON RECORD: 7-1 TEXANS DIVISIONAL RECORD: 2-0…
Mid Season Report Card: Wide Receivers and Tight Ends
This is the third part of our SOTT Mid Season Report card and we will run through every position group for the Houston Texans. We focus on the wide receivers and tight ends in this post and give our thoughts on the position group. The Pass Catchers Grades Andre Johnson: Just having Johnson on the field has made the Texans so much more of a complete team, and throw in the respect teams have for him, he still remains one of the top targets in the AFC. Johnson was not targeted often early in the season but he has been a main…
