Digging Deep: Green Bay Edition
The Texans turned in their first truly poor performance of the season on Sunday night, falling to the Green Bay Packers 42-24. This was their first loss of the season and it moved their record to 5-1. Stupid penalties on fourth down gave the Packers 11 points, but the reality is the Texans did not play well. Positives: 10,000 Andre Johnson caught 8 passes for 75 yards to pass the 10,000 career receiving yards threshold. He was the sixth fastest player ever to reach this mark, taking only 128 games. It was also good to see the Texans try to…
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Packers Edition
The reeling Green Bay Packers invaded Reliant Stadium after losing a close ball game to the Indianapolis Colts. The Packers, in a must win situation to keep from becoming a 2-4 ball club, came into the game looking to rebound from a loss and make a statement. The Texans did very little to stop that from happening and even facilitated the win. Aaron Rodgers was surgical in how he sliced up the Texans secondary and with a lack of pass rush from the Texans front seven, it was inevitable that the Texans were in for a loss. FINAL SCORE: Packers…
The Rundown: Texans vs. Packers
Talk about a downer for the Houston Texans, the Green Bay Packers put on a show in Reliant with a 42-24 win. A win is being nice, more like a serious wake up call for the Texans and life without Brian Cushing. Everything that could go wrong went wrong on Sunday night and there were not many positives from what anyone could see or at least worth talking about. The Rundown – To be honest, Bryan Braman was one of the lone bright spots for the Texans and he did it on special teams by making two tackles and…
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Jets Edition
The Houston Texans came into MetLife Stadium with their minds set on becoming 5-0, but they didn’t expect the Jets to put up a legitimate fight. The Texans first offensive possession was run to perfection; it led to a wide open Owen Daniels touchdown. The game was far more competitive than what was expected by all accounts, but the Texans showed their mettle and rode the defense to a win. FINAL SCORE: Texans 23 Jets 17 Texans Regular Season Record: 5-0 Texans Divisional Record: 2-0 Texans AFC Conference Record: 5-0 Texans VS NFC Conference Record: 0-0 Game…
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Titans Edition
The Tennessee Titans came into Reliant Stadium to battle the Houston Texans in the second divisional matchup for Houston. The Texans went into this game expecting to contain quarterback Jake Locker and stuff the run, but it was evident that Chris Johnson didn’t get that memo. The Texans shut the passing game down but were completely disassembled by the run game. The Texans gave up a ton of yards on the ground but fortunately it didn’t affect the final score. The Texans bull dozed the Titans to another dominant win and won by 20+ points. FINAL SCORE: Texans 38…
Digging Deep: Denver Edition
With a 31-25 victory over the Denver Broncos on Sunday, the Texans moved to 3-0 for the first time in their brief history. After taking a 20-point lead going into the 4th quarter, the Texans allowed 14 points, but managed to hang on to leave Denver with a six-point win. This game was also the first time the Texans have beaten Peyton Manning in his home stadium. Positives: 4 The number of touchdowns Matt Schaub threw in this game. He was 17-30 for 290 yards and 4 touchdowns. While the running game had some success, Schaub was really the guy who…

This time around we dig into the well-informed mind of resident State of the Texans, Broncos AND Texans fan Aaron Close. All-22 Breakdown: Week 2
In our second installment of our All-22 breakdown, we look at two players in particular, Andre Johnson and J.J. Watt. We decided to look at Johnson and exactly what the Jacksonville Jaguars did to him in coverage. Unfortunately for the Jaguars, Johnson’s presence on the field changed a few things on the field for the Texans. Also while watching film we uncovered a new skill that Watt is being asked to do and not to be out done Earl Mitchell was asked to do it one time also. See what it is below. Andre Was a Factor on Sunday…
