It’s not often when you get a chance to do something that takes vision and time to put together, which turns into one of the more interesting posts we have done in some time. We enlisted the help of TX Cleaver, Big Ron and Jake Langerkamp, who have been fans with the team since it’s inception in 2002. We asked all three to join us in a mock draft using, as players to draft from, only the Houston Texans’ players who have ever suited up for the team since 2002. All three were intrigued by the idea and immediately accepted the offer. Of course, we only used four…

On Thursday, General Manager Rick Smith said the Houston Texans have made it a priority to re-sign Connor Barwin for the 2013 season and beyond. He is considered a “core-player” according to Smith and the preliminary discussions with Barwin’s agent, Scott Smith (XAM Sports), will start this weekend in Indianapolis at the 2013 NFL Combine. Word is that Barwin was offered a lucrative deal at the beginning of the 2012 season, but turned it down to chance on building on his 2011 breakout season. Barwin had a solid season, but did not provide the splash plays that would consider him a difference maker. Barwin seems to be the…

We just had @nfldraftscout on from radio row and he told us his sources indicated that Texans considering moving Brooks Reed inside — Lance Zierlein (@LanceZierlein) January 29, 2013 As I told @lancezierlein, #Texans are considering moving Brooks Reed to ILB if they can re-sign OLB Connor Barwin. — Matt Miller (@nfldraftscout) January 29, 2013 This move is contingent on the Houston Texans resigning free agent Connor Barwin, which could give the Texans the option to move Brooks Reed inside. Reed played inside some during the 2012 season which gave the Texans a small sample size of what…

This weekend’s playoff matchup features a re-match of the December 10th Patriots blowout of the Texans. It was a game we all remember but one we wish to forget. The biggest key to this game is did the Texans, including the coaches, learn anything from the December 10th matchup? For example, will Wade Phillips change his high risk, high reward man to man coverage scheme and try to blitz Tom Brady again? And, did Kubiak’s offensive line learn how to block Patriots’ Vince Wilfork? In the NFL, teams are relatively balanced in terms of talent and parity, hence the phrase any…

It’s getting closer to the post season and the Houston Texans have not shown the same explosiveness on offense that they have in the first quarter of the season. The Texans hosted the Vikings at Reliant Stadium and were very gracious hosts as they allowed the Vikings to put their feet up on the table and make themselves at home. The game never seemed out of control or out of hand, but the Texans could not capitalize on their offensive possessions. FINAL SCORE: Texans 6 Vikings 23 TEXANS REGULAR SEASON RECORD: 12-3 TEXANS DIVISIONAL RECORD: 5-0 TEXANS AFC…

The Houston Texans have already ruled out Brooks Reed (Groin), Derek Newton (Knee), Johnathan Joseph (Hamstring and Groin), Antoine Caldwell (Hamstring) and Bradie James (Hamstring) for the Sunday game against the Tennessee Titans. Also, Alan Ball will be a game time decision with a foot injury which could lead to moving Brice McCain into the starting lineup with second year corner back Brandon Harris getting more defensive snaps at the nickel corner position. The majority of the back ups played plenty of snaps against the Detroit Lions in their Thanksgiving game but this could be good for the Texans…

The Houston Texans are dealing with an interesting two game stretch where the defense has been mortal against the pass and given up 983 total yards to the Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars. This is quite the wake up call to a defense that has been solid since the start of the 2011 season and spoiling the fan base with something they had not seen in Houston. Despite a struggling defense, the offense has been putting together enough plays to put points up on the board and have actually carried the team the past two weeks. The Texans are showing…

According to NFL Network’s Albert Breer, Texans D takes a hit — Brooks Reed expected to miss 3-4 weeks with a groin injury. No surgery, but tough loss as home-field race heats up. — Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) November 23, 2012 This is a big blow for a thin outside linebacker position group and it looks like rookie Whitney Mercilus will replace Reed in the starting lineup. Connor Barwin, Bryan Braman, Jesse Nading and Mercilus are the healthy outside linebackers on the current roster. It will be interesting to see if the Texans look elsewhere for help or promote rookie Delano Johnson from the practice squad. Stay tuned…

Possibly one of the oddest games we can remember from the Houston Texans history of games, but how amazing is it to see them sitting at 10-1? After a grueling stretch of three games and a short week to play in their first Thanksgiving game, they pulled out another overtime victory over the Detroit Lions. After what could be called a game of some odd plays and situations, the Texans finally caught some big breaks that resulted in a win. Sometimes luck is involved in winning, but good teams find a way to win and that is exactly what the Texans…
