It’s not often when you get a chance to do something that takes vision and time to put together, which turns into one of the more interesting posts we have done in some time. We enlisted the help of  TX Cleaver, Big Ron and Jake Langerkamp, who have been fans with the team since it’s inception in 2002. We asked all three to join us in a mock draft using, as players to draft from, only the Houston Texans’ players who have ever suited up for the team since 2002. All three were intrigued by the idea and immediately accepted the offer.  Of course, we only used four…

Another starter was lost, but the excitement picked up with the arrival of a new safety talking to the Texans. The Texans look like they are closing in on their first off-season acquisition of the 2013 NFL season, and it might be a player this team needs to help change the culture from a disappointing end to the 2012 season.     Day 3 Notes – Connor Barwin has left for Philadelphia to join James Casey and the new look Eagles. Barwin signed a six-year deal worth up to $40 million dollars, but on $8 million of that is guaranteed. – Brice McCain‘s agent, David…

greg-jennings-to-the-dolphins

It was one of those days where the Houston Texans were going to be in wait and see mode and prior to the new league year opening up. There was no good news, the Texans were watching their own free agents board planes and visit other NFL teams. There are some Texans who are no longer with the team and there was some interesting news on who the Texans contacted on the free agent market.   Day One News   -Kevin Walter was released from the Texans and it saved $2.5 million against the cap. Draft Process Could Hinge on Barwin

ConnorBarwin

On Thursday, General Manager Rick Smith said the Houston Texans have made it a priority to re-sign Connor Barwin for the 2013 season and beyond. He is considered a “core-player” according to Smith and the preliminary discussions with Barwin’s agent, Scott Smith (XAM Sports), will start this weekend in Indianapolis at the 2013 NFL Combine. Word is that Barwin was offered a lucrative deal at the beginning of the 2012 season, but turned it down to chance on building on his 2011 breakout season. Barwin had a solid season, but did not provide the splash plays that would consider him a difference maker. Barwin seems to be the…

The Most Disappointing Texans of 2012

LestarJean

With high hopes and expectations, the Houston Texans looked primed for a run to the Super Bowl before the season started. As we know, the road ended before we knew it and then came the evaluation period to see what exactly went wrong. Call it scheme, coaching or just general play of players, it was an upsetting end to a promising season. We looked at the most disappointing Texans of the 2012 season, and here is the short list.   Ben Tate After a 942 yard 2011 season, Ben Tate rushed for 279 yards in 2012 and was relegated to…

We just had @nfldraftscout on from radio row and he told us his sources indicated that Texans considering moving Brooks Reed inside — Lance Zierlein (@LanceZierlein) January 29, 2013   As I told @lancezierlein, #Texans are considering moving Brooks Reed to ILB if they can re-sign OLB Connor Barwin. — Matt Miller (@nfldraftscout) January 29, 2013   This move is contingent on the Houston Texans resigning free agent Connor Barwin, which could give the Texans the option to move Brooks Reed inside. Reed played inside some during the 2012 season which gave the Texans a small sample size of what…

Glover Quina nd Brice McCain

It’s that time of year to close the books on the 2012 season and start looking at the 2013 Houston Texans and the first order of business is their own free agents. We take a quick look at the free agents on the current roster and give our quick looks at each one.   Free agency begins on March 12, the first day of the new League Year….
