Quick Hitter: End of Mini-Camp
The Houston Texans wrapped up their mandatory mini-camp and head into a five-week down period before training camp kicks off. The mini-camp was centered around the younger players on the team and to get them the extra work they needed to get more work on the field without the veterans taking their workload. Thoughts Heading into Offseason Injuries Derek Newton (knee), Tim Jamison (Achilles), Brian Cushing (ACL), DeVier Posey (Achilles), Ed Reed (Hip), Arian Foster (Calf) and Brennan William (Knee)…
Bye Week Decisions for the Texans
The Houston Texans are coming off their much needed bye week and they are heading into their official halfway point of the season when they match up with the Buffalo Bills. The Texans have a few personnel issues they must deal with in the coming days to make sure the team is tightened up for the stretch run. At the current moment, the team has an active roster of 52 players with rookie defensive end David Hunter hitting the injured reserve last week. The good thing is that the Texans are not dealing with “huge” issues, but with depth at a…
David Hunter Placed on Injured Reserve
Rookie defensive tackle David Hunter was finally placed on the injured reserve this Thursday after injuring his toe during practice that required surgery. The Houston Texans waited until the surgery was complete before placing him on the injured reserve and looks like his recovery time will be around three months. The University of Houston alumni was a camp invitee that made it through the final cuts and was invited back to join the practice squad. After veteran Tim Jamison tore his Achilles against the Green Bay Packer on Sunday Night football, Hunter was activated the following Monday. Just after two days of practice, Hunter was dealt a…
David Hunter Out for Three Months
According to the Houston Texans, rookie defensive end David Hunter will be out for three months with a torn ligament in his foot. Hunter was called up this week from the practice squad to take the place of recently injured Tim Jamison (Achilles) who was also lost for the season. Hunter has said the injury will keep him sidelined close to three months. No decision has been made on who will take his place.
David Hunter Added To Active Roster
After the season ending injury to defensive end Tim Jamison, the Houston Texans have promoted rookie defensive lineman David Hunter from the practice squad. Hunter was signed as an undrafted free agent from the University of Houston (Waller H.S.) and he impressed in training camp to earn a spot with the team. At times, he worked both defensive end and nose tackle for the Texans during camp and preseason. He tips the scale at 306 lbs. and has a good frame for interior play. It would not be surprising to see him active on game days and worked in when needed behind J.J. Watt, Antonio…
