With OTAs first and second days complete the Texans have some news brewing at Reliant.   – According to Austin American Statesman sports columnist, Kirk Bohls, University of Texas defensive coordinator Manny Diaz is scheduled to meet with the Texans this week. The reason for the visit is still unknown, but one would think there has to be an opportunity for Diaz to come talk with the team. With the league year on the horizon and the new season set to start on Tuesday (March 13th) at 4:00 p.m. Eastern time, the Houston Texans like every team in the NFL will have to have their current roster under the $120.6 million dollar cap figure. Contract Talk: Derrick Ward

In this series we are going to look at the potential free agents of the Houston Texans, and figure out if they work into the plans for the coming years….   Released in August 2010, by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Derrick Ward was brought to Houston at the beginning of the 2010 season to become insurance for the injured Steve Slaton. Ward was buried in the depth chart in 2010 with the emergence of Arian Foster, and in 2011 he was the third string back throughout the season.

  While listening to Gary Kubiak’s press conference from Monday,  one of the media members said the Houston Texans only have 7 players with playoff experience. Texans List Inactives for Sunday, Jackson inactive with knee

The Houston Texans have listed Kareem Jackson (DB),T.J. Yates (QB), David Anderson (WR), Sherrick McManis (CB), Derrick Ward (RB), Andrew Gardner (OL), and Thomas Austin (OL) inactive for Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Recently promoted running-back Chris Ogboyanna will be active in today’s game, being the third running-back on the depth chart.

Houston Texans list Inactives for Saints, Rookie Makes NFL Debut

The Houston Texans have listed Arian Foster (RB), T.J. Yates (QB), David Anderson (WR), Sherrick McManis (CB), Derrick Ward (RB), Derrick Newton (OT) and Thomas Austin (OL) as inactive for Sunday’s game in New Orleans. With that 2nd round draft pick Brandon Harris will make his NFL debut with McManis being inactive. Also. the Texans will carry two healthy runningbacks into the game with Ben Tate and Steve Slaton.

Texans Continue Roster Shuffle, I.R. Another and Sign a Familiar Face

On Friday, the Houston Texans placed rookie cornerback, Roc Carmichael on the injured reserved to end his season. Carmichael injured his shoulder early in preseason and never contributed during the preseason and was listed as inactive for the season’s first game against the Indianapolis Colts. He was a 5th round draft pick out of Virginia Tech and was drafted to help solidify a weak secondary heading into the 2011 season.
