Texans Bring Phillip Steward in for Private Workout
Phillip Steward, from University of Houston, was brought in for a private workout with the Houston Texans early today. Steward, a 6’1″, 237 lb., senior outside linebacker, was elected 2012 All-Conference USA First Team by the coaches. Steward led Conference USA and was 14th nationally with eleven sacks. He led the conference and was fourth nationally with five forced fumbles. Additionally, he was second in the conference and ninth nationally with 19 tackles for loss. Finally, Steward led all linebackers nationally with six interceptions his junior year. Steward was not only a stand out in his performance, but was also…
Texans 2013 Prospect List
A compiled list of prospects that the Texans have talked to since the start of the draft process. We understand that NFL TEAMS talk to as many prospects as they can, but still interesting to see the names. East West Shrine Game Anthony Amos, Wide Receiver, Middle Tennessee State (5-11, 183 lbs.) The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Bears Edition
In what could be considered the worst playing conditions, the Houston Texans invaded Soldier Field to take on the Chicago Bears. The weather was horrible for playing an outdoor game, cold temperatures, swirling wind and rain. With the weather going to be a factor, NFL analyst said that this would work in the Bears’ favor. Well not so fast my friend, the Texans came out and put their stamp on the game early. The Texans came into the game with something to prove even in the worst type of situations for an outdoor game. The rushing attack for Houston was established…
There Might Be More to the Cody Injury
According to the Houston Chronicle’s Tania Ganguli, Texans starting nose tackle Shaun Cody has more than just bruised ribs. NT Shaun Cody’s injury is more serious than he let on. Broken ribs, punctured lung, I’m told: ow.ly/f6Kfs #Texans — Tania Ganguli (@taniaganguli) November 7, 2012 This rumor started soon after the game that Cody’s injury was nothing more than bruised ribs according to Cody’s twitter. Feelin good. Just had a bang to the riblets. Gonna be fine. #swatteam — Shaun Cody (@ShaunCody95) November 5, 2012 The Texans have been quiet about injuries when it comes to their players, but…
David Hunter Added To Active Roster
After the season ending injury to defensive end Tim Jamison, the Houston Texans have promoted rookie defensive lineman David Hunter from the practice squad. Hunter was signed as an undrafted free agent from the University of Houston (Waller H.S.) and he impressed in training camp to earn a spot with the team. At times, he worked both defensive end and nose tackle for the Texans during camp and preseason. He tips the scale at 306 lbs. and has a good frame for interior play. It would not be surprising to see him active on game days and worked in when needed behind J.J. Watt, Antonio…
Texans Profiles: The UDFA
Very impressed with the Houston Texans draft class, the team did not stop after the draft getting some more work done. The Texans front office has put together what appears to be one of the more impressive undrafted rookie free agent groups we have seen in some time. The class is headlined with three players who in our estimation have real shots at making the Texans roster, and the reason why these three did not get drafted is still puzzling. Even still, this 2012 draft crop of rookies has the chance to be one of the deepest in Texans’ history. The Texans…
Texans Profile: DeVier Posey
TEXANS PROFILE: DEVIER POSEY In the second round the Houston Texans traded back with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for their third round pick at 68 and also acquiring a third fourth rounder at 126. The Houston Texans need a wide receiver badly and even though Texans fans liked the idea of trading back and acquiring more picks it becomes apparent that wide receiver isn’t as important to them as it is for Texans fans. Finally, with the 68th pick of the third round the Texans pick a good wide receiver in DeVier Posey. DeVier Posey Breakdown: School: Ohio State…
