Texans Trim Roster and Troy Nolan
The Houston Texans released their group of players they have waived in order to get to the leagues mandated 53 man roster. In a surprise move the Texans have released safety Troy Nolan in a head scratching move and according to Tania Ganguli from the Houston Chronicle… #Texans announce they released FS Troy Nolan as their final cut. I’ve been told it took this long because they tried to trade him first. — Tania Ganguli (@taniaganguli) September 1, 2012 Also, the Texans released veteran fullback Moran Norris after bringing him in during the off-season to compete for the fullback position. They also added…
Training Camp: Rejuvenated
With Day Eight in the books, the Houston Texans had an upbeat practice which turned into only a morning session. For two hours, the team was running well and both the offense and defense had some good moments out at the Reliant practice fields. – According to Head Coach Gary Kubiak, three starters are set to return to practice on Monday. Kareem Jackson, Duane Brown and Andre Johnson have all made it clear they are ready to go but the Texans, being gun-shy from last season’s injury bug, are taking every precaution with their players. – Defensive lineman Sonny Harris left practice early…
Training Camp: Making Impressions
On Day Three of the Houston Texans training camp, the shoulder pads and live contact took place at Reliant. After plenty of walk through work and no contact, that all quickly changed. Check out our camp notes from Day Three: – Head Coach Gary Kubiak pushed his team a little harder in day three with pads on and the Texas heat. It was evident which players were ready for this heat, and plenty of players got tired out there on Monday. – The offense came out with plenty of false starts especially from the young guys. Fullback Derrell Smith had some…
Due Diligence: The Wide Receivers
During the past few weeks of Houston Texans OTAs, it seems like one of the biggest question marks with the current makeup of the team is the lack of veteran presence in the wide receiver position group. Head Coach Gary Kubiak has made it clear that there is a possibility that the Texans will be looking for a possible veteran to bring into Houston. All that has been said with Andre Johnson sidelined is that Kevin Walter is the only wide receiver with game experience and the next in line is second year wide receiver Lestar Jean, who has learned the system from…
The Rookies: Digging Deep: Part 1

Writing on the Wall?- OTAs
With OTAs first and second days complete the Texans have some news brewing at Reliant. – According to Austin American Statesman sports columnist, Kirk Bohls, University of Texas defensive coordinator Manny Diaz is scheduled to meet with the Texans this week. The reason for the visit is still unknown, but one would think there has to be an opportunity for Diaz to come talk with the team. Another possibility is for Diaz to come a pick the brain of defensive coordinator Wade Phillips on the Texans defensive scheme. – Nick Scurfield of the Houston Texans released some of the notable undrafted rookie numbers for the…
Texans Release Jacoby Jones
According to Houston Fox Sports news reporter, Mark Berman, the Houston Texans have released wide receiver Jacoby Jones. Early words are that the Texans tried to trade Jones, but had no takers. With the move, the Texans will save $2.5 million in cap space heading into the 2012 season. Jones has been highly criticized for his lack of production since coming to Houston in 2007 and after signing a new contract in 2011 with a three-year deal worth $10.5 million, $3 million of that being guaranteed. With 127 career receptions, Jones just never took off for the Texans and could not replace Kevin…
Texans Profiles: The UDFA
Very impressed with the Houston Texans draft class, the team did not stop after the draft getting some more work done. The Texans front office has put together what appears to be one of the more impressive undrafted rookie free agent groups we have seen in some time. The class is headlined with three players who in our estimation have real shots at making the Texans roster, and the reason why these three did not get drafted is still puzzling. Even still, this 2012 draft crop of rookies has the chance to be one of the deepest in Texans’ history. The Texans…
