Digging Deep: Baltimore Edition

Digging-Deep-(1)

The Texans followed up their worst performance of the season with their best, laying a 43-13 beatdown on the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. This win moves them to 6-1 and breaks a tie with the Ravens for the best record in the AFC going into their bye. It also gives them a 2.5 game division lead over the Colts. Positives: 20 The number of points the Texans scored in the second quarter, compared to zero for the Ravens. The Texans were only up 9-3 after the first quarter, but this 20-point quarter gave them a lead that proved to be insurmountable….

The Rundown: Texans vs. Ravens

DLine

In an impressive bounce back game, the Houston Texans finally defeated the Baltimore Ravens for the first time in franchise history with a score of 43-13. The defense looked like their old self, while the offense took to the air to rack up yards against a depleted Ravens team. Head Coach Gary Kubiak showed some determination by not letting off the gas and kept pounding the football against the Ravens to nail this victory home and take sole possession of the AFC conference for their own. The Texans upped their season record to 6-1 and took a strangle hold of the AFC South in…

Here are some random thoughts for you on the Houston Texans.   – As much flack as Connor Barwin has taken for his lack of production, it feels like defensive end Antonio Smith has gotten a free pass from the critics. Despite having two sacks and a forced fumble in 2012, Smith has been very quite and less disruptive than last season. Now Smith has been on the injury report the past few weeks with an ankle/foot issue that limits him in practice. Gary Kubiak said in his press conference this week that Smith was dealing with other issues too, but did not go into…

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Jets Edition

Andre Johnson finally has help.

The Houston Texans came into MetLife Stadium with their minds set on becoming 5-0, but they didn’t expect the Jets to put up a legitimate fight. The Texans first offensive possession was run to perfection; it led to a wide open Owen Daniels touchdown. The game was far more competitive than what was expected by all accounts, but the Texans showed their mettle and rode the defense to a win.   FINAL SCORE: Texans 23 Jets 17   Texans Regular Season Record: 5-0 Texans Divisional Record: 2-0 Texans AFC Conference Record: 5-0 Texans VS NFC Conference Record: 0-0   Game…

Texans to Watch: Titans Edition

ArianFoster

The Texans look to improve to 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in the division at Reliant Stadium this weekend.  The foe is division rival Tennessee Titans, which come to Houston after winning their first game in overtime, 44-41 against the Detroit Lions.  The Texans (and probably most fans) are riding a “Rocky Mountain High” into this game after beating Peyton Manning and the Broncos last week.  But that was last week and this could be a trap game if the Boys in Steel Blue aren’t ready.  Hopefully with the match-up being a home division game, it will push the Texans…

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Broncos Edition

BriceMcCain

The Houston Texans invaded Mile High Stadium and dominated. The Texans’ offense and defense were dominant from the start and were focused on leaving Denver with a win. The Texans came out firing long on a pass to Andre Johnson to score. Matt Schaub spread the ball around to his entire receiving corps. They had very little resistance in the passing game and were able to pound the ball on the ground. The score isn’t indicative of the dominance the Texans displayed on offense or defense, but it was truly a one sided game.   FINAL SCORE: Texans 31 Broncos 25…

The Rundown: Jaguars Edition

It is hard to imagine that things on the football field could have gone any better for the Houston Texans against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Texans pretty much played a solid game, except for the three plays that led to the Jaguars only score of the day. There were plenty of questions to be answered from week one and it showed on Sunday with the Texans focused for all four quarters. Look no further than the dominance that both the offense and defense showed over their division foe.     The Rundown – There are many fans who complain about Matt Schaub, but he was as efficient…

Digging Deep: Miami Edition

Digging-Deep-(1)

After a slow start, the Texans scored 24 unanswered points in the second quarter to lead them to a 30-10 victory over the Miami Dolphins. Looking closely at the statistics allows us to find the Texans’ successes, as well as the obstacles that contributed to their slow start. Positives: 24 The number of unanswered points the Texans scored to build their lead in the second quarter. They didn’t score until there was 6:16 left in the second quarter, but they put 24 points on the board in this final six minutes to take a decisive lead in the game. +4…

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Dolphins Edition

JJWatt2

The Houston Texans opened up their regular season yesterday against the Miami Dolphins at Reliant Stadium. The Dolphins, with rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill, came into this game hoping to do to the Texans what Mark Sanchez did to them his rookie season and win his first career football game. It’s obvious that the Texans remembered that game and were not about to allow it to happen again. The Texans started off slow but they broke out of the slump when the defense made big play after big play. The offense was given a couple of short fields and punched it…

Texans Training Camp: Another Scare

Keshawn-Martin

Full pads were on for the 6th day of camp and the Houston Texans did receive a scare to one of their star players.     - Duane Brown, starting left tackle, got kicked on his left ankle when he got rolled up from behind. Brown played two plays after the incident but couldn’t continue. After evaluation they shut him down for the day and he headed in for an MRI. The MRI came back negative and was only deemed a bone bruise. He has been listed as day-to-day. Rashad Butler will fill in at the left tackle position until Brown comes back….
