Texans Trim Roster and Troy Nolan

Reliant

The Houston Texans released their group of players they have waived in order to get to the leagues mandated 53 man roster. In a surprise move the Texans have released safety Troy Nolan in a head scratching move and according to Tania Ganguli from the Houston Chronicle… #Texans announce they released FS Troy Nolan as their final cut. I’ve been told it took this long because they tried to trade him first. — Tania Ganguli (@taniaganguli) September 1, 2012 Also, the Texans released veteran fullback Moran Norris after bringing him in during the off-season to compete for the fullback position. They also added…

Training Camp: No Need to Panic

Andre

With Day Two morning session in the books, there was plenty of news out of Houston Texans camp, both good and bad. Here are some day 2 notes:     – Wide receiver Andre Johnson was the headline of the day due to a “tweaked” groin, and being witness to it I can see where the concern would come from. We were about 10 yards from where he was trying to get stretched out by the trainers, to get going again for 1-on-1 drills with the defensive backs. Headed under the tent to see the head trainer, they ran a battery of tests on…

Texans Training Camp: The Opening Act

DSC_8877

Today was the opening day of Texans 2012 Training Camp, and there was a buzz in the air. So much 5,012 fans showed up as early as 2 a.m. before the gates opened at 7 a.m. Plenty of notes on today’s camp.     Camp Notes   – The first hour of practice was outside, but was soon moved inside. The reason was that they wanted the team to get “acclimated” to the heat. –  Offensive lineman Kasey Studdard was signed to take the place of Thomas Austin because of a hamstring injury. Austin was on the bike majority of practice. Also punter Brett…

Due Diligence: The Wide Receivers

IMG_0584

During the past few weeks of Houston Texans OTAs, it seems like one of the biggest question marks with the current makeup of the team is the lack of veteran presence in the wide receiver position group. Head Coach Gary Kubiak has made it clear that there is a possibility that the Texans will be looking for a possible veteran to bring into Houston. All that has been said with Andre Johnson sidelined is that Kevin Walter is the only wide receiver with game experience and the next in line is second year wide receiver Lestar Jean, who has learned the system from…

The Issue with Jacoby Jones

JacobyJones

At the beginning of the 2011 season, Jacoby Jones was  given a 3-year $10.5 million dollar contract with $3 million in guarantees and was considered a key free agent coming out of the 2010 season.  To call the move questionable is an understatment, but the production has been non-existent in his five years with the Texans. As a Texan, he has had 127 catches for 1,741 yards and 11 touchdowns (5 seasons) , with 51 receptions and 562 yards in 2010 being his best statistical output as a professional. The unfortunate thing is that the “one blunder” that Texans fans will always remember happened in the Divisional…

Decisions To Be Made for 2012

Rick Smith and Bob McNair

The Houston Texans coming off of their first ever division title and playoff win, are faced what every team goes through after the season. They face decisions that will shape the roster for years to come, and in 2012 the Texans have some key free agents.

Texans Bring Back Holliday

The Houston Texans brought back second year player Trindon Holliday shortly after he was released and cleared waivers to make room for newly acquired, safety Quintin Demps. Holliday was brought back to the Texans practice squad, but with the Texans resigning him they released practice squad wide receiver Juaquin Iglesias.

Texans Add One and Release One From Practice Squad

To close out a busy week the Houston Texans brought back Chris Ogboyanna (RB) to the practice squad after he was recently released from the 53-man roster to make room for Trindon Holliday and Derrick Mason.   With bringing back the Texans cut loose recently signed James Davis (RB) from the practice squad. The Houston Texans practice squad is as follows.

Meet Your Newest Texan: Juaquin Iglesias

This morning the Houston Texans signed wide receiver Juaquin Iglesias to the practice squad. Iglesias was drafted in 2009 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears in the 3rd round (99th pick overall) from the University of Oklahoma. The Texans look like they are trying to get more athletic the wide receiver position and letting Iglesias learn on the practice squad.

Houston Texans Continue to Shuffle Roster

The Houston Texans on Tuesday made a flurry of moves in effort to solidify their team. The biggest move was when the Texans acquired Derrick Mason from the New York Jets for a conditional 7th round pick late last night. The Texans did not stop there with their moves.
