Life isn’t about where you come from it’s about where you want to go and how hard you are willing to work to get there.” – Shawn Loiseau, Inside Linebacker, Houston Texans (Merrimack College)         With the NFL Draft finished, the Houston Texans hit the undrafted free agent wire and started their process and with that the Texans have brought…

Houston Texans Fans

Very impressed with the Houston Texans draft class, the team did not stop after the draft getting some more work done. The Texans front office has put together what appears to be one of the more impressive undrafted rookie free agent groups we have seen in some time. The class is headlined with three players who in our estimation have real shots at making the Texans roster, and the reason why these three did not get drafted is still puzzling. Even still, this 2012 draft crop of rookies has the chance to be one of the deepest in Texans’ history. The Texans…

Texans Profile: Nick Mondek

With the 195th overall pick, the Houston Texans selected offensive tackle Nick Mondek from Purdue.   Tale of the Tape Height: 6-5 Weight: 305 lbs. 40 yard dash: 4.84   Mondek has started for the Boilermakers over the past two seasons and slowly worked his way up the draft boards as the process moved on. At Purdue, Mondek started his career as a defensive tackle (2008-2009) and, despite his red shirt freshman year, he appeared in all the games for the Boilermakers as a defensive tackle. In those two seasons as a defensive tackle he posted 15 total tackles and 2 sacks. During the…

With the 121st overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the Houston Texans select… Keshawn Martin, WR, Michigan State University. Vital Stats Height:                       5’11” Weight:                       192 lbs. Arms:                          31 ½” Hands:                        9 ¼” An explosive receiver who is quick off the snap and plays special teams, Martin already has many Texans fans saying, “Jacoby Who?”  Mayock glows over this guy as well.  He raved over Martin at the MSU pro day, calling the slot receiver “quicker than fast,” with swagger, toughness and great value to the return game. Martin was a two year starter at Michigan State, proving to…

Texans Profile: Brandon Brooks

With the 76th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the Houston Texans select… Brandon Brooks, Guard, Miami, OH Vital Stats Height                         6’5” Weight                        353 lbs. Arms                           33 Wingspan                  80”   Described by Mike Mayock as a physical freak, four-year starter guard Brandon Brooks was a surprise pick for most Texans fans. Despite being the #5 guard available on many draft boards and possessing what some are calling pro-bowl potential, Brooks was not invited to the NFL Combine but did participate in the East West Shrine game.  At a lean, mean 350 lbs, Brooks stunned during practice and was called by many the best NFL…

Texans Profile: Whitney Mercilus

Whitney Mercilus

With the #26 overall pick the Houston Texans selected outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus from Illinois.     Tale of the Tape Height: 6-3 Weight: 261 lbs. Arms: 33 7/8″ Hands: 9 1/4″   With the board falling better than what the Houston Texans expected, they decided on what appears to be the best player available in Whitney Mercilus. Plenty of questions were surrounding him heading into the draft being considered a “one year wonder”. Playing defensive end for the Illini, Mercilus declared early after a dominating junior season after he led the nation with 16 sacks and was also voted the top…

Texans Draft Wish List

TexansGrid

With the NFL draft closing in, I had to put together my draft wish list going into Thursday’s big day, the NFL Draft. I have compiled a list I have thought out and hopefully ONE will come true on draft day. You will see that there are some specifics, but in some cases there are some players that I would really like to see in a Texans’ uniform. The Texans’ front office has made it clear that they want to get faster and more explosive, and with that I have put together some thoughts. Here is my wish list.

Draft Anticipation

Now that the draft is only a few days away the anticipation has mounted greatly in Houston Texans fans. I personally am extremely amped about what the Houston Texans have in store for this year’s draft, and the suspense of the event as a whole is almost unbearable. So many of us feel as though we know exactly what the Texans will pick and we know what’s best for the team. The funny thing about being a fan of your team around draft time is that we will pick a particular player at a certain position one moment and the…
