Rookie Mini Camp Notes: Day 3
The Houston Texans finished up their three-day mini camp for rookies, first year players and veteran tryouts. The three days was a crash course for these players and gave them a small sample size of life in the NFL, but it was a good start for some rookies. Day Three Notes – The day belonged to rookie quarterback Collin Klein, who started his camp off slow. Today he stood in the pocket tall and threw the ball with confidence which included some nice deep balls. He still has some trouble putting zip on footballs in the middle of the field,…
Texans Bring Back Phillip Supernaw
The Houston Texans have resigned tight end Phillip Supernaw for the upcoming 2013 season. Supernaw was signed as an undrafted free agent from Ouachita Baptist University and impressed enough throughout preseason to make it on the practice squad coming out of 2012 training camp. His time on the practice squad was cut short after he injured his right foot (stress fracture) that landed him on the injured reserve. Supernaw is 6-5 and 250 lbs. and entering his second season with the team. With the signing the Texans now have four tightends under contract for 2013, Owen Daniels, Garrett Graham, Jake Byrne and now Supernaw. …
Texans Bring Back Logan Brock
The Houston Texans brought back to the practice squad tight end Logan Brock to fill a void that was left by rookie tight end Phillip Supernaw, who was injured in practice this week (stress fracture in right foot). Supernaw beat out Logan for an invite back to the practice squad after cuts were made after the final preseason game. Brock is 6-3 and 248 lbs. and was signed before camp out of TCU where he was used primarily as a blocking option. He showed some good work in camp and the preseason games and it was a toss-up between him and Supernaw for a practice squad spot….
Meet and Greet: The Texans Practice Squad
The cuts and claims appear to be done for the time being and the Houston Texans have set their 53 active roster and their practice squad for the 2012 season. Even though they are not on the active team, they are still an important part of the team and could still be vital options later in the season. Last season was a prime example how the practice squad came into play when eight players were signed to the active squad during the season. A new year and new names, the Texans have put together a solid group of young players that could see…

Texans Players to Watch: Texans vs. Vikings
The window is closing on the preseason and on plenty of NFL careers by Friday, when the Houston Texans’ roster must be trimmed to 53. With 75 on the current roster, decisions are to be made that will impact the franchise and the futures of NFL players after the final whistle on Thursday. The Minnesota Vikings are coming to town for the final assessment to be made on bubble and practice squad players. There will be some starters out there on Thursday and expect players like Moran Norris, Shiloh Keo, Jesse Nading, Trindon Holliday, John Beck and others to get plenty of…
The Rookies: Digging Deep: Part 2
With the Houston Texans getting into the flow of OTAs we wanted to look at the 2012 rookie class a little closer. We enlisted the help of Shane Hallam of Draft Countdown to give us some quick thoughts on the entire rookie class of the Texans. We asked Hallam also who the rookies compare to that are in the NFL which give us a baseline for what to look for when camp opens up. Take a look at let us know what you think. The Rookies (Part 2) Jason Ford – RB/FB tweener who never had the speed or explosiveness to be very productive at the…
Texans Profiles: The UDFA
Very impressed with the Houston Texans draft class, the team did not stop after the draft getting some more work done. The Texans front office has put together what appears to be one of the more impressive undrafted rookie free agent groups we have seen in some time. The class is headlined with three players who in our estimation have real shots at making the Texans roster, and the reason why these three did not get drafted is still puzzling. Even still, this 2012 draft crop of rookies has the chance to be one of the deepest in Texans’ history. The Texans…
