Horn is a first year player out of the University of Miami and is 6-4 and 305 lbs. Texans Release Kevin Walter
According to Adam Schefter the Houston Texans have released veteran wide receiver Kevin Walter. Walter was due $4.5 million in 2013 but this move should come as no surprise for any fans who have watched the Texans. After signing with Houston in 2006, Walter posted 326 receptions with 4,083 yards and 24 touchdowns. He has been a starter for the Texans opposite Andre Johnson for the past 7 seasons which he has played 109 games.
Texans Release Jonathan Grimes
Late Thursday evening the Houston Texans released rookie running back Jonathan Grimes. The #Texans have released rookie RB Jonathan Grimes. They now have an open spot on the active roster — Nick Scurfield (@NickScurfield) December 20, 2012 Grimes was an undrafted free agent from William and Mary and made the practice squad coming out of camp. Then Grimes had a whirlwind tour of the NFL when the New York Jets claimed Grimes of the practice squad, then soon waived him weeks later. With Ben Tate fighting injuries the Texans claimed Grimes off of waivers and was mainly a special teams contributor….
Texans Shuffle Practice Squad
The Houston Texans announced they released rookie running back Davin Meggett from the practice squad and brought back inside linebacker Cameron Collins (pictured above). Collins will now be on the practice squad for the second time this season, and this looks like a move just in case the linebacker depth takes anymore hits. With an ailing Bradie James (Hamstring), Tim Dobbins (Shoulder) and Darryl Sharpton coming back from injury, the inside of the defense is looking to get healthy. Collins is 6-2 and 241 lbs. and was signed when Cody White was placed on the active roster in early October….
Darryl Sharpton Activated; Nolan Waived
This week, the Houston Texans activated inside linebacker Darryl Sharpton from the Physically Unable to Perform List and released backup safety Troy Nolan. Sharpton has been injured since last season when he tore his quadricep against the Jacksonville Jaquars, and he is set to make his 2012 season debut this weekend against the team that prematurely ended last year’s season. Sharpton was originally on track to return at the beginning of Training Camp, however, he had a setback while in rehab with a hip issue. After a prolonged rehab, Sharpton finally returned to the practice field and was given full clearance this week….
Texans Release Two Rookies
Nick Scurfield of the Houston Texans has announced the team has cut their first two players heading into the 2012 training camp, both rookie free agents. Rookie free agents defensive back Desmond Marrow and fullback Jason Ford have been released two days prior to the opening of training camp. Marrow was a rookie from Toledo while Ford was a converted tailback to fullback from Illinois, and both were considered long shots to make the team. Usually with moves like these there are corresponding moves, lets see if this holds true. These moves leave the Texans with 86 on the active roster.
Texans Release Jacoby Jones
According to Houston Fox Sports news reporter, Mark Berman, the Houston Texans have released wide receiver Jacoby Jones. Early words are that the Texans tried to trade Jones, but had no takers. With the move, the Texans will save $2.5 million in cap space heading into the 2012 season. Jones has been highly criticized for his lack of production since coming to Houston in 2007 and after signing a new contract in 2011 with a three-year deal worth $10.5 million, $3 million of that being guaranteed.
