Know Your Opponent with Soldier Field Insider

Know-Your-Opponent-2

In what has been dubbed a “colossal matchup” on HoustonTexans.com, a “battle of Super Bowl hopefuls” in the Chicago Tribune, and a potential “Super Bowl preview” on NFL.com, the Texans trip to Chicago to meet the Bears for a Sunday night spectacle is nothing if not hyped. Both teams come into the contest at 7 and 1. Both teams have stellar defenses. The Bears tend to score more on defense, but the Texans have a much higher ranked offense. Special teams? Chicago wins that battle handily – on paper. We know the game will not come down to statistics but…

Rebuilding the 2012 Texans

Texans Huddle

In light of the upcoming draft I thought I would look into how I would go about rebuilding the Houston Texans through the draft. With the draft being unpredictable I am going to focus only on the eight picks the Texans have. First off let’s look at some of the key players that the Texans lost due to free agency and left holes in some places and lack of depth in others. Here is a short list of the players that left due to free agency. Mario Williams: Defensive End/Outside Linebacker – Buffalo Bills DeMeco Ryans: Linebacker – Philadelphia Eagles…

Scouting the Draft for a Mario Williams Replacement

This is an installment from State of the Texans feature Columnist, Mike Kerns.   Even before the eventual departure of Mario Williams to free agency, it is always said of a Wade Phillips 3-4 defense that one can never have enough linebackers. Also, you will find some players we have added who proved to be a few other players who we highlighted during the beginning of the week, and stood out during Saturday’s game.   The game is very basic in terms of offense and defense,…

Gameday: Top 10 Senior Bowl Prospects for the Texans

LPStadium

With tornadoes in the area the Senior Bowl has come to a halt, and the teams have moved their practices indoors and proceeded with walk-throughs. Word is that some of the NFL scouts have already packed up and headed for home, because they say the practices are the true indicator of what the teams want to see. Despite all of that there is a game to be played on Saturday, weather permitting, and the Texans have been hard at work trying to fill out their scouting reports. We have compiled a list of players who will be playing on Saturday in…
