Texans First Cuts Announced
The Houston Texans have released their first cuts of the preseason and getting to the league mandated 75 by Monday. The biggest surprises with the current list is Brett Hartmann, Derrell Smith and Nick Mondek. Nick Mondek was drafted in the 6th round in the 2012 NFL draft and was considered a project coming into the season. He never really impressed at any level to get to the second round of cuts. Training Camp: On the Mend
Entering Day Seven of Houston Texans training camp, the big story in camp was the recent injury to J.J. Watt and the excused absence of wide receiver Lestar Jean. Here are some camp notes from today. – There were plenty of rumors flying around on the absence of Lestar Jean from Thursday’s practice, but on Friday he was the first one on the field and was working with assistants on the jugs machine. Texans Training Camp: Another Scare
Full pads were on for the 6th day of camp and the Houston Texans did receive a scare to one of their star players. - Duane Brown, starting left tackle, got kicked on his left ankle when he got rolled up from behind. Brown played two plays after the incident but couldn’t continue. After evaluation they shut him down for the day and he headed in for an MRI. The MRI came back negative and was only deemed a bone bruise. He has been listed as day-to-day. Rashad Butler will fill in at the left tackle position until Brown comes back….
Texans Training Camp: The Opening Act
Today was the opening day of Texans 2012 Training Camp, and there was a buzz in the air. So much 5,012 fans showed up as early as 2 a.m. before the gates opened at 7 a.m. Plenty of notes on today’s camp. Camp Notes – The first hour of practice was outside, but was soon moved inside. Texans List Inactives for Sunday, Jackson inactive with knee
The Houston Texans have listed Kareem Jackson (DB),T.J. Yates (QB), David Anderson (WR), Sherrick McManis (CB), Derrick Ward (RB), Andrew Gardner (OL), and Thomas Austin (OL) inactive for Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Recently promoted running-back Chris Ogboyanna will be active in today’s game, being the third running-back on the depth chart.
Houston Texans list Inactives for Saints, Rookie Makes NFL Debut
The Houston Texans have listed Arian Foster (RB), T.J. Yates (QB), David Anderson (WR), Sherrick McManis (CB), Derrick Ward (RB), Derrick Newton (OT) and Thomas Austin (OL) as inactive for Sunday’s game in New Orleans. With that 2nd round draft pick Brandon Harris will make his NFL debut with McManis being inactive. Also. the Texans will carry two healthy runningbacks into the game with Ben Tate and Steve Slaton.
Texans Pick Up Thomas Austin off of Waivers
On Sunday, the Houston Texans picked up 6’4″ 310 lbs. guard from the New England Patriots, Thomas Austin. The undrafted rookie from Clemson was a rookie in 2010 and was originally brought into the league by the Minnesota Vikings. Only 24 years old, Austin was All-ACC second team in 2008 and 2009 and to date has played no games in the NFL.
